They work like valves and permit flow of blood only in a direction. One calls the flaps between left Herzkammer and Aorta (Aortenklappe), as well as between right chamber and lung artery (Pulmonalisklappe) also pocket flaps. The flaps between atria and - chambers are the sail flaps, also Mitral (left heart) and Trikuspidalklappe (right heart)

In the body and lung cycle there are to Arterien, in which the blood is led of heart to the organs, and Venen, which transport the blood from the body back to the heart. The blood can flow thereby the better, the less the containers by deposits at the Gefäßwänden (Arteriosklerose) restrict and the more flexible it is.
The lung cycle begins in the right Herzkammer, which pumps oxygen-poor blood over the Lungenarterie to the lung. In the lung carbon dioxide out and oxygen is inhaled. The blood enriched with oxygen arrives then over the Lungenvene into the left heart. Here the body cycle begins. The body cycle starts in the left Herzkammer. It pumps oxygen-rich blood to our main artery, the Aorta. The body cycle is called also large cycle, because it supplies our entire body of the brain over entrails up to the skin and the muscles with blood.
In such a complex structure like the heart all parts must regularly co-operate, so that the heart can settle its task. Functioned only one part of the heart not correctly, other the parts of the body and heart are pulled in. Of diseases different parts of the heart can be concerned. They can concern also the flaps.
The Koronararterien, which supplies the heart with energy, can be damaged. There are errors during the development and the growth of the childlike heart, before the baby was born. Of it very different parts of the heart can be concerned. Sometimes will the heart muscle weak and cannot the necessary pumping performance furnish. Illnesses of the Koronararterien are probably the most well-known heart diseases.
